NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and several other leaders across political spectrum condoled the death of NCP leader and Maharshtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Maharashtra’s Baramati.
In a post on X, President Murmu said Pawar’s death is an irreparable loss.
“He had deep interest in the development of Maharashtra, especially in the cooperatives sector. I express my condelences to his family and supporters and also to family members of all those who died in the plane crash,” the President said.
Condoling the death, PM Modi said, “Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti.”
Shah also expressed his anguish at the NCP leader’s death.
In a post on X, the Union Home Minister said that Pawar’s untimely demise is an irreparable loss and he will be remembered for his contribution to the development of Maharashtra, especially in the field of cooperatives.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in a post said, “The news of the tragic demise of Shri Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash, is deeply shocking and profoundly distressing. It is an untimely loss of a leader who had a long and promising political career ahead. No words can adequately express the immense grief that the bereaved family must be enduring during this difficult hour. I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Pawar family, his supporters and well-wishers. Having served the people of Maharashtra in various constitutional capacities, Shri Ajit Pawar shall be remembered as a seasoned politician who discharged his responsibilities towards his people with sincerity and astuteness. May his soul rest in peace.”
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also condoled the death. “It’s a painful moment for the Pawar family, may God give them strength to bear this loss,” Yadav told reporters.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra condoled the death. “My condolences to the entire family and his followers,” she said while speaking to reporters in Parliament.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar described the plane crash incident in which Pawar was killed as tragic and saddening.
“It is a saddening incident. He was a popular leader of Maharashtra. He held many important positions in Maharashtra politics with a proven record. My sympathy with his family and loved ones,” he said.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said, “Ajit Pawar ji was a very sincere leader. He had joined Mahayuti to take Maharashtra on the path of development.”
