DDC Rajouri reviews modalities for execution of conservation projects approved for 22 heritage sites

Stresses quality restoration, eviction of encroachments  

RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today reviewed the status of approved conservation projects for 22 heritage sites in the district here at a meeting held to ensure timely and quality execution of the same.

The meeting discussed in detail the repair and renovation of several heritage and religious sites, including Gulabgarh Fort, Chingus Sarai, Veer Baba Narsingh Ji Temple, Menka Mahadev Temple, Pandoh Temple Kalsian, Qila Darhal Fort, Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi Nowshera, Danidhar Fort and others located in different parts of the district.

It was informed that the works will include face-lifting of structures, landscaping, external electrification, construction of boundary walls and provision of toilet facilities to enhance the overall aesthetics and visitor amenities at these heritage sites.

The District Development Commissioner directed the project executing departments to ensure proper demarcation of land and removal of encroachments at all identified heritage sites before the commencement of works. He emphasized that restoration and renovation works must strictly adhere to the original architectural character of the structures, directing the use of matching construction material and engagement of specialized masons and skilled labour for heritage conservation.

The Additional Deputy Commissioners was asked to visit the sites, examine the Detailed Project Reports on the ground and address any bottlenecks so that work on the projects can start smoothly without delays.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Rajouri, Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq, Chief Engineer Tilak Raj, Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri, Aftab Anwar besides other district and sectoral officers. The Additional Deputy Commissioners and Executive Engineers from various divisions joined the meeting virtually.
