DC inaugurates newly created facility at Ward No. 21

UDHAMPUR: A newly established Anganwadi-cum-Creche centre was inaugurated today in Udhampur Township under the Palna scheme of Mission Shakti.

The inauguration of the new centre at Dandyal A, Ward No. 21 has taken the total number of Anganwadi-cum-Creche centres in Udhampur and Ramnagar towns to four.

The newly established Anganwadi-cum-Creche was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai.

The initiative aims to provide a supportive environment for the holistic development of children up to six years of age and empower working mothers by ensuring safe and nurturing day-care facilities for their children.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted that the establishment of these Creches will significantly benefit families, particularly working women, who often face challenges in ensuring adequate childcare during working hours. “These centres will enable mothers to engage productively at their workplaces while their children receive proper care, nutrition and early education,” she added.

During day-care hours, children at these Creches will receive nutritious meals, early childhood education, basic health and hygiene services, contributing to their overall well-being and development.

The DC appreciated the efforts of the Poshan Department for setting up these Creches in the district and urged working mothers residing within municipal areas to enroll their children in nearby Anganwadi-cum-Creches to avail the benefits of this centrally sponsored scheme.

The inaugural event was attended by PO Poshan Subhash Chander Dogra; CDPO, Executive Officer, Municipal Council, prominent citizens and other officials of the Poshan Department.
