Issues on-spot directions for restoration works and relief measures
RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today conducted an extensive whirlwind tour of Khawas and Kalakote areas to assess damages caused due to recent rains and landslides and to review ongoing restoration works.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer PMGSY Rajouri to immediately restore the Kenchi Morh–Narla road and the Chak Matiyani–Kot Charwal road. He also instructed the R&B to expedite restoration of the Kotranka–Khawas road. The DC personally supervised the restoration work on the Moughla–Khawas road.
Emphasizing the importance of connectivity for Khawas, the Deputy Commissioner noted that road links in the area were severely affected due to the recent rains, causing hardship to the public. He directed the concerned departments to ensure time-bound restoration of all vital road links so that normal movement of people and essential supplies can be resumed without delay.
Taking note of damages to residential houses, the DC directed the Tehsildar concerned to submit complete relief files at the earliest. On the spot, cheques under the Red Cross were distributed among the affected beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner further instructed the Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) to submit a comprehensive crop damage report and directed the BDO Khawas to provide immediate protection work under MGNREGA.
Directions were also passed for the prompt restoration of water supply and electricity in the affected areas.
While interacting with the local residents, the DC heard their grievances at their doorstep and issued on-the-spot directions for redressal, assuring the people of timely action by the administration.
