Jammu admin, Govt MAM College organise seminar on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat to Viksit Bharat’

JAMMU: District Administration Jammu, in collaboration with Government Maulana Azad Memorial College a one-day seminar on “Nasha Mukt Bharat to Viksit Bharat.”

The event, held on the second day of the Induction/Orientation Programme, was coordinated by the NCORD Cell and the Student Welfare Committee of the college.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an interactive session on drug abuse awareness. Speakers highlighted the growing challenge of drug menace among youth and stressed the need for a multi-pronged approach involving education, awareness and community action. The session emphasised equipping students with adequate knowledge so that drug abuse can be effectively prevented. A skit on Nasha Mukt Bharat was later performed by students from NCC and NSS Units.

Medical experts also addressed the gathering, explaining the biological impact of drug use and the medical and psychiatric interventions available, including de-addiction and substitute therapies.

The programme concluded with an Anti-Drug Pledge Ceremony, in which students, staff and guests participated. Principal Prof. Archana Kaul interacted with the gathering and stressed the importance of organising such awareness programmes in educational institutions.

The event saw participation of all staff members of the college along with representatives from the Social Welfare, Police and Education departments. The day’s programme was coordinated by faculty members of the college and a vote of thanks was presented at the end.
