DC Udhampur reviews progress under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

Stresses intensified testing, community outreach & Ni-Kshay Mitra registration

UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting with officers  of the Health Department to review the current status of the National Tuberculosis  Elimination Programme, with a focus on accelerating efforts towards a TB-free Udhampur.

The Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Dr Anil Manhas, presented a comprehensive overview  under the National TB Elimination Programme in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.

During the meeting, the DC also reviewed the implementation of the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, launched under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at providing additional support to TB patients and improving treatment outcomes.

The DC emphasized the need to further strengthen the efforts and directed all departments to work in close coordination to achieve the goal of a TB-free Udhampur. Highlighting the critical role of community involvement and inter-departmental cooperation, the DC instructed the Health Department to prioritize outreach to vulnerable and underserved populations, especially those residing in remote areas. She directed the department to carry out mapping of vulnerable groups, enhance diagnostic and treatment services and promote early detection through focused screening and testing drives.

The District Tuberculosis Officer was instructed to organize dedicated health camps and conduct an intensified awareness campaign across the district to identify and treat TB patients promptly. The DC further appealed to the public to voluntarily register as Ni-Kshay Mitras to support TB patients and contribute to this national mission.
