6.2-magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan, jolts Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A strong earthquake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, hit Iskashim area of Afghanistan, jolting neighbouring Pakistan and Kashmir valley on Wednesday afternoon.

Panicked people rushed out of their homes and offices after the quake struck.

The epicentre of the quake, which struck at a depth of 111.9 kilometres, struck 36 kilometres north-west of Ishkashim.
