5 Militants Killed in Two Encounters in South Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar: Three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (TRF) were killed in an overnight encounter in South Kashmir Shopian’s Tulran Imamsahab area and two ultras were killed in a separate gunfight in the district’s Feeripora area on Tuesday by security forces.  

In both of the encounters in the district of Shopian, a total of five militants were killed by the security forces. Among the five slain militants, three were killed in Tulran encounter among whom one was identified as Mukhtar Shah, a resident of Ganderbal. 

As per officials, the three slain were affiliated with the LeT (TRF) outfit and have been identified as Danish Hussain Dar, a resident of Ray Kapren Shopian; Yawar Hussain Naikoo, a resident of Pahlipora and Mukhtar Ahmed Shah resident of Sindbal, Ganderbal.

It was said that one of the slain militants, Mukhtar Shah, was involved in target killing of a non-local vendor in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar and shifted to Shopian after committing the crime.  

However, in another encounter in Feeripora area of Shopian, an encounter ensued after laying of CASO in the area subsequent to the one in Tulran. In Feeripora encounter, two militants were killed during the operation on Tuesday. 
The slain militants in the Feeripora encounter have been identified as Ubaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ray Kapren and Khubaib Ahmad Nengroo, a resident of Braripora. The official said that both the militants were affiliated with the LeT outfit.
After the encounter, incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of encounter.
