3rd DLC on FRA held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a 3rd District Level Committee meeting on Forest Rights Act, here attended by heads of sub division level committees, representatives from forest and rural development department.

A total of 23 cases were placed before the committee for its approval. 20 of these cases were from Kokernag sub division and 3 from Anantnag. A thorough discussion was held regarding the cases at hand.

During the meeting, Dr Singla reviewed the disposal of cases at the sub divisional level.

The DDC directed all the attendees to process the cases on fast track basis so that genuine beneficiaries can be awarded rights under the act. He said the act is a historic step towards welfare of the forest dwelling schedule tribes and other tribal groups and any delay in processing of these cases must be avoided.

He stressed that IEC campaigns be carried out for effective information dissemination.

The meeting was attended by DDC members, ADC, ACP, DFO Anantnag and Lidder Bijbehara, ACR, SDMs Pahalgam, Dooru, Bijbehara, Kokernag among others.
