Says duo crossed LoC inadvertently, efforts on for repatriation

JAMMU: The Army on Sunday  detained two teenage girls, who happen to be sisters, in Sarla area on the the Line of Control after they inadvertently crossed over to this side.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the duo has been identified as 17-year-old Laiba Zubair and 13-year-old Sana Zubair-daughters of Muhammad Zubair, residents of Abbaspur village near the LoC in forward Kahuta tehsil of Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK)

Army in a statement said that today morning, the teenage girls were crossing the LoC in Poonch sector when army troops deployed there noticed their movement and detained both of them.

“It was ensured that the duo was not harmed. The duo had crossed over to this side inadvertently and efforts for their repatriation are going on,” Army further informed.

Official sources on the other hand said that both the duo were infiltrating from LoC in Sarla battalion area near Chakan Da Bagh cross LoC trade point when army troops noticed their movement.

“Soon after army noticed that two teenage girls are trying to cross in, all the forward posts in the area were put on alert and directions were issued to hold the fire to ensure that teenage girls receive no harm and later both were detained.” said official sources.

They added that their questioning as well as legal formalities into the matter were going on. “During questioning, it came to fore that the duo crossed into this side inadvertently with no ill-motive,” they said.
