2 killed after truck hits bike in outer Delhi, driver held

NEW DELHI: Two men were killed in a late-night road accident involving a truck and a motorcycle in outer Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy area, police said on Thursday.

Police received information about the accident at Bhalswa Dairy police station around 11.50 pm on Wednesday. A police team reached Gurjar Chowk, where a truck bearing a Punjab registration number and a black motorcycle were found involved in a collision.

The victims were identified as Azad Bharti (28), a resident of Mukundpur who worked at a medical shop, and Dipesh (28), a taxi driver from the same area. Both were found unconscious at the spot and were rushed to BJRM Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

An eyewitness, Rohit, was present at the scene, and his statement has been recorded. The mobile crime team also inspected the site.

A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.

The truck driver, identified as Baljinder Singh (35), a resident of Khalchiya village in Punjab’s Amritsar district, has been arrested.
